Speak Now is the third studio album by American country pop artist Taylor Swift. The concept album was released on October 25, 2010. Swift has spent the past two years writing tracks for her follow-up to “Fearless,” which has sold nearly six million copies and won Album of the Year at the 52nd Grammy Awards, making Swift the youngest artist ever to win the prize.
On her first album, “Taylor Swift,” and, to a degree, on “Fearless,” she had little more to do than share her adolescent imagination. Even her darker songs were about poking the hole in the ideal more than any actual trauma. But experience is gaining on her. “This whole apparent growing up that happens,” she called it, with comic dismissal.
In these new songs relationships are no longer fantasies, or neutered; they’re lived-in places, where bodies share space.
All the songs on the album were written and composed solely by Swift. Speaking about the songs, Swift said, “Each song is a different confession to a person.”

The first single, “Mine“, was released on August 4, 2010. The music video shoot was in Kennebunkport, Maine in early July. Swift said the single was about her tendency to “run from love”. For the week of August 21, 2010, “Mine” debuted at #3 on the Hot 100 and #1 on digital songs due to 297,000 digital downloads. This was less than what was predicted but “Mine” was only out for about 4 days due to the rush release of the single. The song also debuted at #53 on Radio Songs due to 23.9 million listeners on all radio formats.
An upcoming world tour has been confirmed for the album.
